10 Games You Must Check Out Now
We’re only in April, and 2017 is already shaping up to be a great year for gaming. From shooters to RPG’s, it looks like all genres are going to be receiving some love this year. Lets take a look at some new games that’ve got the gaming community buzzing.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
In this action-adventure game, you take on the place of Link, who awakens from a 100 year sleep from a mysterious voice who tells him he must defeat Calamity Ganon.The game features an almost never-ending open world that is a staggering twelve times more expansive than the overworld in Twilight Princess. This continuation of the Zelda series is only available on the Nintendo Switch and the Wii-U.
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn is a PS4 exclusive that took the gaming community by storm. The plot revolves around the character named Aloy, who’s world is taken over by robots. In this action role-playing game, you set out to discover the dangers that kept her sheltered throughout her life. The game uses a very polished combat system which uses ranged, melee, and stealth tactics to take down the robotic invaders.
3. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands
Wildlands is an open-world tactical shooter developed by Ubisoft Paris. You play a member of an elite special operation unit for the US military. Featuring dynamic weather, a day-night cycle, and over nine different terrains, you can expect to never get bored of traversing different areas of this expansive map.
4. Mass Effect: Andromeda
It’s hard to believe there could be another Mass Effect without Shepard. You now play as as either Scott or Sara Ryder, a new military recruit who enlists in the Initiative and awakes in Andromeda following a 600-year journey. The game still has it’s Mass Effect feel, there are many upgrades including a more fluid and mobile combat rather than cover-based.
5. Halo Wars 2
This Xbox and Windows 10 exclusive real-time strategy game received generally good reviews all across the board. Halo Wars 2 takes place in the Halo universe in the year of 2559, 28 years after the events of the first game. The game includes a story/campaign, as well as competitive multiplayer modes.
6. NieR: Automata
NieR: Automata is a direct sequel to the 2010 release NieR. The story follows a combat android, her companion, as well as a fugitive prototype. The game has received praise from critics around the globe for it’s excellent story, music design, and combat system. This action role-playing game is far from your typical RPG.
7. For Honor
For Honor is a hack-and-slash fighting game developed by Ubisoft. Players are able to fight as characters from The Legion, The Chosen, and The Warborn. From these three factions you’re able to choose between anything from a knight to a viking. For Honor includes a story mode, as well as 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 multiplayer game modes to quench your thirst for competition.
8. Sniper Elite 4
The fourth installment of the Sniper Elite series continues to impress us with many additions to an already unique stealth and combat system. Improvements to the X-Ray kill-cam system now show shrapnel kills, melee kills, and stealth kills. Maps are also significantly larger than in previous installments.
9. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard follows Ethan Winters and his search to find his missing wife Mia. In this survival horror game, you are taken to a derelict plantation owned by the Baker family. You must fight the “Molded” and the Baker family to rescue your wife and bring her back safely.
10. MLB The Show 17
For those of you who need your baseball fix, The Show 17 the show delivers this to you, and more. It includes your favorite classic modes, as well as a new “Retro Mode” that’s inspired by the 90’s style baseball games.
